Poland allows children to be taught outside a classroom, which makes an international curriculum a genuine option here rather than a legal problem. Parents weighing the best online schools in Poland usually switch for five reasons.
Poland lets a child learn outside the classroom while staying enrolled at a Polish school. The school here supplies the teaching inside that arrangement.
International places cluster around three cities. Online, the same pathways reach a family anywhere in Poland on identical terms.
Nursery to Grade 9 runs 09:00 to 11:30 Polish time in winter, a comparable shape to a Polish school day without the journey.
The enrolment belongs to the child rather than the address, so a relocation does not restart anything.
The pathway is chosen for where your child finishes school, not where the family happens to be living now.

Straight answers for families anywhere in Poland: how edukacja domowa works, what the annual examinations involve, what the class times mean locally, and what this school does and does not cover.
Polish law allows it, under article 37 of the Education Law, and the route has a name here: edukacja domowa. The child remains formally enrolled at a Polish school, public or non-public, and the head teacher issues a permission. Since the 2021 reform no counselling centre opinion is required and the family may choose an eligible school anywhere in the country. Sunbeam World School then supplies the teaching inside that arrangement, and the counselling team will explain how the two fit together.
Each school year the child sits classification examinations in the relevant subjects, administered by the Polish school holding the enrolment and set against Poland's national core curriculum. Passing promotes the child to the next grade. The permission can be withdrawn where a child does not sit or does not pass without good reason, so these examinations are the load-bearing part of the arrangement rather than a formality.
The teaching here follows the Cambridge, American, Australian or Indian curriculum your child is on, and the Polish core curriculum sits alongside it for the annual classification examinations. Families generally cover that with a tutor or a programme built for those examinations, and the timetable is designed to leave room: classes finish late morning, so afternoons are free for it. Plan the arrangement when you apply for the permission.
Mainly two groups. Relocating households whose next country decides the curriculum and who want the international pathway to run uninterrupted, and families living away from Warsaw, Krakow and Wroclaw where international places are thin. It also suits a child returning to India. A counselling call establishes quickly whether it fits what your family needs.
The usable window is the afternoon India batch, which lands at roughly 09:00 to 11:30 Polish time in winter and an hour later in summer, covering Nursery through Grade 9. Grades 10 to 12 exist only on the morning India slot, which falls at about 05:30 here in winter. That is the main practical limitation of this page and it applies the same way in every voivodeship.
Since the 2021 reform the family can choose an eligible school anywhere in Poland rather than being tied to the local catchment, and that choice matters more than most families realise. The enrolling school sets how the annual classification examinations are run, what it asks to see through the year and how approachable it is about an international curriculum running alongside. Ask other home-educating families which schools are straightforward before you commit to one.
English, throughout and in every subject, which is what an expat household arriving without Polish usually needs: a child keeps pace in mathematics and science from the first week rather than waiting for the language. Polish comes from a tutor or a local class in the free afternoons, and the annual classification examinations are taken in Polish.
Within a taught timetable rather than freely. Recordings let a student revisit a difficult topic as often as needed, doubt-clearing sessions sit in the weekly timetable, and an assistant subject teacher handles questions during the lesson, which together give more room than a classroom does. What this is not is a self-paced course where a child skips ahead a year. Families with a young athlete or musician usually value the free afternoons more than the pacing.
A student success team handles technical problems, which is the channel to use when a login fails or the platform will not load rather than contacting the class teacher. Ask at the counselling call what hours that team covers in Polish time and how to reach them, since a problem at 09:00 in Poland falls in the middle of the Indian working day and a problem at 17:00 does not.
Not run by this school. There is no hub, study centre or Polish meetup programme here, and families should not plan around one. The school describes in-person picnics and residential camps as part of its programme, so ask admissions what is scheduled for Europe. Separately, Poland has an established home education community with its own gatherings in Warsaw, Krakow and Wroclaw, and the enrolling school is usually the best route to them.
Cambridge, American, Australian, CBSE-aligned, NIOS and BOSSE, and the same six wherever you live, which is the difference from the physical market where choice depends on the city. Those six cover a UK, US, Australian or Indian destination, and a counsellor confirms on the first call whether your child's route is among them.
Cambridge IGCSE runs in Grades 6 to 10 and AS and A Levels in Grades 11 and 12, available from any part of Poland rather than only where a Cambridge school happens to be. For a family in a smaller city that geography is the whole point: the same syllabus and the same certified teachers as a household in Warsaw, with no relocation and no daily drive.
Usually, provided the counsellor sees the paperwork early. Placement is worked out subject by subject from the previous school's reports, establishing what ran and how far it went, with written confirmation of which subjects continue before any payment, so the position is clear from the start.
A Levels run in Grades 11 and 12 with Cambridge certified teachers and university pathway support, and the one thing to check is the hour. The published senior slot falls around 05:30 Polish time in winter, which suits a motivated student with a settled destination abroad. Talk it through with a counsellor before Grade 11, so the timetable is chosen with your household routine in mind.
They lead to different places. A Polish school teaches in Polish, embeds a child in a local cohort and leads to the matura. A British curriculum online school in Poland teaches in English on the Cambridge syllabus and leads outwards, and it still requires the Polish enrolment and the annual examinations alongside. A family staying in Poland for good should take the Polish route.
That is the case it fits. US K-12 Common Core standards under Cognia accreditation, assessed continuously through the year, which transfers into an American school more readily than a Cambridge record does. Ask which documentation arrives at the end of Grade 12 and take it to the receiving district before committing, because districts differ in what they accept.
Poland has no Indian-curriculum school, so the usual pattern is a board change on arrival and another on return, with ground lost twice. This removes both. NCERT textbooks and CBSE-pattern assessment run from Grade 1 to 12, with NIOS or BOSSE certifying Grades 10 and 12, and registration arrangements from Poland are settled with a counsellor well ahead of the series.
Polish institutions assess foreign qualifications under their own admission rules, so it is decided institution by institution. Polish-taught programmes carry their own language requirement, so a student aiming at one builds Polish up alongside over several years, and English-taught programmes set their own criteria. Check both before Grade 11 subject selection, since they can shape the combination.
A published 2:20 ratio, meaning a class teacher leading with an assistant subject teacher handling questions while the lesson continues. For a Polish family there is a secondary use: being able to describe the staffing accurately, and show what a lesson looks like, helps when explaining the arrangement to the head teacher who issues the permission.
A single published figure per grade covering live classes, learning material, assessments, the platform with recordings and notes, and co-curricular sessions, with nothing added for technology. Outside it: the one-time board registration fee, NIOS registration and examination fees as an international student, Australian attestation and courier on physical books. Budget separately for whatever you use to prepare for the Polish classification examinations. Fees are non-refundable.
Two separate processes, and the common mistake is doing only one. On our side: a device and a stable connection, an identity document or birth certificate, the previous school reports and a counselling call. On yours: enrolment at a Polish school and the head teacher's permission, before the child stops attending. Enrolling here does not create the Polish arrangement.

It holds IAO and Cognia accreditation, Cambridge certification for IGCSE and A Level, and NIOS or BOSSE for the Indian pathways, none of which is a Polish approval and none of which is claimed to be. Polish authorities register schools operating in Poland; this is not one, which is exactly why the enrolment at a Polish school sits alongside it.
They run in any month rather than following the September start, and at this age no permission or enrolment question arises, since compulsory schooling begins later. Nursery starts at three with short activity-led sessions and an adult nearby in the first weeks.
Teaching is in English, so a child keeps pace in subjects while Polish is built separately, and in the primary years that separation needs planning rather than hoping. The annual classification examinations are set on the Polish curriculum, so a primary-age child needs Polish language and content running alongside from the start, not added later.
Abroad is where it points: Cambridge A Levels, the Cognia-accredited American pathway or the Indian pathways, with university pathway support for applications. Two things need settling first in Poland. The senior-grade timetable falls very early in the local morning, and the edukacja domowa arrangement with its annual examinations continues to apply throughout.
Enrolment here runs in any month. The Polish side has its own timing, because the head teacher's permission has to be in place before a child stops attending, so the sequence matters more than the date. Placement comes from the previous school's reports, and recordings cover what was taught before the join date.
The Polish school holding the enrolment administers them, on the Polish core curriculum, and this school has no role in setting or marking them. What can be supplied is evidence of what has been taught here, meaning attendance records, assignments, assessment results and the lesson recordings. Ask the counsellor what can be exported before your first examination round.
Every timetabled period is taught live with a subject teacher present and attendance recorded, with recordings behind that for revision and absences. In Poland the attendance log does useful work beyond the classroom: it is concrete evidence of taught instruction when a head teacher asks how the child is actually being educated.
One batch slot, typically finishing late morning in winter, with the length per grade published before enrolment. Remember that the Polish curriculum work sits on top of this rather than inside it, so the real weekly load for a family in edukacja domowa is this plus whatever is needed for the classification examinations.
Through the same twenty classmates each day online, and locally through clubs, sport and music schools, which run in the afternoons when this timetable has already finished. Poland also has an established home education community with its own meetups in the larger cities, and the enrolling school is often the best place to ask about them.
SEND trained educators work to an individualised plan covering dyslexia, ADHD, autism and speech, language and sensory processing needs, priced separately from the annual fee. Assessments from another country are read and used. Note that any adjustment to the Polish classification examinations is decided by the enrolling school, not here.
The class teacher is the first person to raise it with, then the academic coordinator, then a counsellor, and SEND trained educators are available where a learning need is involved. In Poland the enrolling school is a useful second avenue, since it has its own obligations to the child and access to local support, and families needing clinical input arrange that locally alongside.
A parent app and portal update as work is marked. For a family in edukacja domowa those records serve twice: once for the parent, and once as the simplest way to show the enrolling school what has been covered ahead of the annual examinations.
It follows its own published calendar, which will not match the Polish one, so expect teaching days during Polish breaks and breaks when Polish schools are open. Families take the weeks they want as planned absences with recordings to catch up. Keep an eye on the examination dates set by the enrolling school, since those are fixed independently of both calendars.
The timetabled teaching is not the parent's to do, but the Polish arrangement is. Grades 1 to 5 need an adult available for logins and focus, and from the middle grades a student manages the timetable alone. Under edukacja domowa the family remains answerable for the child's education and for the annual examinations, which is a real responsibility rather than a formality.
Where you are with the Polish enrolment and permission, how you intend to cover the core curriculum and Polish, which pathway fits your next destination, and what the class times mean locally including the senior-grade problem. The published fee for the grade comes with it, and a demo class can be booked in the same call.
