Why Choose Our Year 11 Program

A rigorous, structured entry into senior secondary education — designed to build subject mastery, academic independence, and a clear pathway to the Year 12 ATAR.

1. The official start of your WACE

Year 11 is Units 1 and 2 of your WACE program — the formal beginning of senior secondary education under the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA), Government of Western Australia.

2. Deep subject specialization

Students move beyond survey-level learning into serious subject engagement. Whether it is Mathematics Methods, Chemistry, or Modern History — Year 11 is where real academic depth begins.

3. Choose your pathway — ATAR, General, or VET

Year 11 is where students commit to their senior pathway. Our counseling program helps every student understand the difference between ATAR, General, and VET courses — and select the right combination for their goals.

4. 100% school-based assessment

No external examinations in Year 11. All assessments are conducted by your school, giving students time to build confidence, develop study habits, and master subject content before the Year 12 exam.

5. Academic independence built here

Year 11 deliberately shifts the responsibility to the learner. Students develop the self-directed study skills, time management, and analytical habits that WACE Year 12 — and university — demand.

6. Direct preparation for Year 12

Every unit studied in Year 11 is the prerequisite for Year 12. Students who perform well in Year 11 arrive at the exam year with the content knowledge, study discipline, and subject confidence they need.

English

English is compulsory for all WACE students. Year 11 develops the analytical, written, and oral communication skills required for both university study and professional life.

Mathematics

Students choose the mathematics course suited to their pathway. Year 11 Mathematics is compulsory for all students — the level depends on career direction and prior achievement.

Science

Science in Year 11 moves into formal discipline-specific study. Students choose one or more sciences based on their pathway interests and university prerequisites.

Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS)

A broad range of subjects exploring human societies, history, places, economies, and political systems — all available as ATAR or General courses.

How Your Child Learns in Year 11

A structured, academically rigorous program that develops the study habits, subject knowledge, and independent learning skills that Year 12 and university demand.

1. Live specialist-taught classes

Every subject is taught by a subject specialist. Sessions are designed to challenge at senior secondary level, developing higher-order thinking alongside content knowledge.

2. Inquiry and extended tasks

Real analytical work, essays, research assignments, laboratory investigations, and extended problem sets. Not just content recall, but the demonstration of genuine understanding.

3. Structured and flexible delivery

Academically demanding in content, designed with flexibility in delivery, so students can manage the pace and volume of senior secondary study without overwhelm.

4. Pathway and subject counselling

Early in Year 11, students receive structured guidance on ATAR, General, and VET courses — and how their current subject choices align with Year 12, university prerequisites, and career goals.

5. Digital learning platform access

Recorded lessons, subject notes, assignment resources, and progress tracking, everything students need to revise, catch up, and stay ahead between live sessions.

6.Ongoing assessment and feedback

Regular school-based tasks assessed against WA Curriculum achievement standards, with clear feedback that shows students where they stand and exactly what to improve.

Choose the Right Year 11 Pathway

Whether your goal is university admission, vocational training, or a flexible senior secondary pathway, Year 11 allows students to choose between ATAR, General, and VET programs aligned with their academic strengths, career goals, and future aspirations.

Prepare For WACE Year 12

Our Year 11 program is built around one clear outcome: students who arrive at Year 12 prepared. Not just with content knowledge, but with the analytical depth, independent study habits, and subject confidence that allow them to perform under exam conditions.

Subject knowledge builds progressively. Year 11 Units 1 and 2 are the direct prerequisite for Year 12 Units 3 and 4 — and the external SCSA examinations that follow. Students who engage seriously with Year 11 are not just getting through a year — they are building the platform from which their ATAR is won.

From subject counseling in Term 3, students and families begin planning Year 12 subject selections, reviewing prerequisite requirements for intended university degrees, and mapping the pathway ahead — so nothing is left to chance in the final year.
