Admission takes four steps, all from home in Singapore: apply online, a counselling call within 24 hours, documents and fee, then orientation. Admissions are open all year, including mid-year, for Nursery to Grade 12.

Singapore schools well and charges for it, and a seat is not guaranteed to a child who is not a citizen. Parents weighing the best online schools in Singapore usually switch for five reasons.
Every published batch lands between 12:30 and 18:30 Singapore time, so no child is logging in at midnight for a class built around another continent. Grades 10, 11 and 12 run from 12:30 to about 18:00, which is the hardest timing to get right anywhere else.
Places for non-citizens in the national system are limited and allocated through a competitive exercise with no guarantee at the end of it. Admission here does not run through any allocation, so a family is not left waiting on a result before a child can study.
A job change in Singapore can unsettle a child's schooling faster than anything else, and a new campus place at short notice is hard to find. The enrolment belongs to the child rather than to an address or an employer, so the class, the teachers and the records carry on.
The school day takes one batch slot taught live in a small group, with doubt-clearing built into the weekly timetable rather than outsourced to an evening tuition centre. The hours that frees are the point for families who feel the local pace has stopped working for their child.
A child training 20 or more hours a week at a swimming, golf, tennis or arts academy cannot do it around a full campus day. With classes in the afternoon, the mornings belong to training, and recordings cover a session missed for a competition.

Straight answers for families in Singapore: how compulsory education applies to citizens and to everyone else, what enrolment does and does not do for a pass or a deferment, what the class times mean in Singapore hours, and what the fee covers.
The answer depends on the child's nationality. Singapore's Compulsory Education Act covers Singapore Citizens aged 6 to under 15 who live here. Permanent residents and foreign children are outside it, so an expat or PR family can enrol at an international online school without approval from the Ministry of Education. A citizen family needs an exemption first, and the route for that is set out below.
A citizen family needs an exemption from the Compulsory Education Unit, and the conditions are substantial. The application is made in the year before Primary 1, alongside registering at a national primary school in case the exemption is refused, and it requires a plan meeting the aims of compulsory education. The child takes a National Education quiz and sits the PSLE at a benchmark set against national candidates. Sunbeam World School does not prepare students for the PSLE or that quiz.
Enrolment at Sunbeam World School is no basis for a Student's Pass. Passes are issued by Singapore's immigration authority against a place at an institution it recognises for that purpose, and an overseas online school is not one. A child studying here needs their own standing in Singapore already, whether that is citizenship, permanent residence or a Dependant's Pass. Confirm your child's position with the authorities before you plan around it.
Deferment decisions are made by the authorities responsible for National Service and not by any school, so no school can promise one. A family with a son who is a citizen or permanent resident should confirm the position with the Central Manpower Base before enrolling, not afterwards, because the answer may shape which pathway and which finishing qualification make sense.
Withdrawal runs through the current school and, for a citizen in compulsory education, through MOE. A citizen child who stops attending without an exemption puts the parents at risk of an offence, so the exemption comes first and the withdrawal second. For a PR or foreign child the step is simply a withdrawal from the school, and the transfer certificate and reports are what a counsellor needs to place the child here.
This suits families whose child is outside compulsory education and whose certification is international rather than local. That usually means an expat or PR household, a family between passes or employers, a child training seriously in sport or the arts, or one who will finish school in another country. A citizen family wanting the local system and the PSLE is better served there.
Classes run through the Singapore afternoon and early evening, with every published batch between 12:30 and 18:30 local time. Grades 10, 11 and 12 sit at roughly 12:30 to 18:00, and the Cambridge primary and lower secondary groups run later in the afternoon. Nothing runs late at night, and the exact slot for your child's grade is confirmed before enrolment.
Attendance at the live class is what the school tracks, and the recording is there for a session genuinely missed rather than as an alternative to turning up. Recordings sit on the learning platform with notes and revision material, and the doubt-clearing session in the weekly timetable is where a gap gets closed properly. Tell the teacher in advance where you can.
Six pathways run here as an international online school for families in Singapore: Cambridge, American, Australian, CBSE-aligned, NIOS and BOSSE. The International Baccalaureate and ICSE are not offered. In a city where several campuses run the IB, a family committed to that programme should keep looking rather than take a substitute, and a counsellor will say so on the call.
Comparison is best made subject by subject against the pathway you choose rather than in the abstract, because a Cambridge IGCSE syllabus and the local syllabus are built to different designs. What a family can check directly is the syllabus document for each subject, the weekly live teaching hours, the assessment pattern and the class size. Ask for all four at the counselling call and sit in on a demo class in the subject that worries you most.
The first line is the doubt-clearing session built into the weekly timetable, plus an assistant subject teacher working alongside the class teacher during lessons and recordings for a difficult topic. Beyond that, the subject teacher's comments on the dashboard show where the gap is and the academic coordinator can be asked to put a plan in place. If you want one-to-one remedial sessions, ask what is offered and on what terms.
Sunbeam World School runs a Cambridge international online school open to any home in Singapore. Students take Cambridge IGCSE in Grades 6 to 10 and AS and A Levels in Grades 11 and 12, taught live by Cambridge certified teachers, and the qualification is recognised in 135+ countries. Examination registration and arrangements are confirmed with a counsellor before the series.
Continuing a part-finished course is one of the common reasons families reach an IGCSE online school in Singapore, usually after a move or a change of circumstances mid-year. A counsellor maps the subjects and syllabus already covered, confirms which can be continued and places the student. Subject availability is confirmed before enrolment rather than assumed.
AS and A Level study runs in Grades 11 and 12 on the Cambridge pathway, taught live by Cambridge certified teachers, and the senior-grade timetable sits inside Singapore daytime hours rather than overnight. The subject combination is confirmed with a counsellor before Grade 11, and university pathway support covers applications abroad.
A British curriculum online school in Singapore follows the same Cambridge syllabus and examination series a campus school follows, so the difference is logistics rather than content. Admission is open all year, there is no commute or bus charge, and the school continues if the family leaves Singapore. A campus school offers daily in-person attendance, facilities and a local peer group, which some families will rightly prefer.
An American curriculum online school in Singapore suits a family whose next move is to the United States. The pathway follows US K-12 Common Core standards and the school holds Cognia accreditation, with continuous assessment through the year. Ask the counsellor exactly which records and credential your child receives at the end of Grade 12, and confirm what the receiving school or district will accept.
An Indian curriculum online school in Singapore keeps a child on NCERT textbooks and CBSE-pattern assessment through the years abroad, which is what families returning to India need. The pathway runs from Grade 1 to 12, with NIOS and BOSSE certifying Grades 10 and 12, and arrangements for a family living outside India are settled with a counsellor before registration.
Each Singapore university sets its own admission requirements for applicants holding international qualifications, and those requirements decide the answer rather than the school does. Check the current rules with the universities on your child's list before Grade 11 subject selection, since the subject combination may need to be built around them, and our counsellors will supply the board and accreditation details you need for that enquiry.
The annual fee is published as an all-inclusive figure covering live classes, learning material, assessments, the learning platform with recordings and notes, and co-curricular sessions, with no separate tuition or technology charge through the year. Charged separately are the one-time board registration fee, NIOS registration and examination fees for international students, attestation for the Australian pathway and courier charges for physical books sent abroad. Fees are stated as non-refundable. Ask admissions about invoice formats if an employer is reimbursing.
There is no Sunbeam World School hub or study centre in Singapore, and no local club placement service, so families should not plan around either. Inside school there is the same small class every day plus online clubs, competitions and group projects. Outside it, the mornings the timetable leaves free are what families use for a sports club or an arts programme, and the school describes in-person picnics and camps as part of its programme, so ask admissions what is scheduled for the region.

Sunbeam World School is accredited by IAO and Cognia, with Cambridge certifying the IGCSE and A Level pathway and NIOS or BOSSE certifying the Indian pathways at Grades 10 and 12. None of these is a Singapore recognition, and the school is not registered with Singapore's Ministry of Education, so read the accreditation as international rather than local.
Online nursery admissions in Singapore run all year rather than to a fixed intake, and nursery starts at age 3, below the age at which compulsory education applies to citizens. Sessions are short and activity led, with an adult nearby in the first weeks.
The online primary school in Singapore is built around a shorter taught day rather than a longer one. Ages 5 to 10 attend shorter live periods with breaks between them, with reading, worksheets and projects away from the screen, and progress is measured against the child's own earlier work rather than a cohort ranking.
The online high school in Singapore for Grades 9 to 12 runs inside local daytime hours, with the senior grades at roughly 12:30 to 18:00 Singapore time. Cambridge IGCSE and A Level, the Cognia-accredited American pathway and the Indian pathways all continue through to Grade 12, with university pathway support for applications abroad.
Enrolling part way through the year is normal here, which matters in a city where a posting or a pass can change at short notice. A counsellor maps the syllabus already covered, places the child and lists the gap topics, and recordings cover the lessons taught before the join date.
Every timetabled lesson is taught live by a subject teacher in a small group, with the recording there for revision or a missed day rather than in place of the class. Doubt-clearing sessions sit in the weekly timetable, which is what replaces an evening spent at a tuition centre.
The fee structure page states a 2:20 teacher to student ratio, with an assistant subject teacher taking doubts alongside the class teacher during the lesson. A demo class is where a family sees whether a quiet child actually gets drawn in, which is the thing no brochure can answer.
The school day takes one batch slot, and the published grade-wise timetable shows exactly how long that is before you enrol. Younger grades sit shorter live periods with breaks, with reading and projects away from the screen. Eye exercises are done during classes and the school issues guidance on reducing blue light.
A laptop, tablet or smartphone with a stable internet connection is what the requirements ask for, with headphones and a webcam recommended rather than required, and only a web browser and a PDF reader in the way of software. A standard home broadband connection in Singapore is comfortably sufficient.
Friendships come from two directions, and a family here needs both. Inside school there is the same small class group every day, online clubs, competitions and group projects across a student body in 135+ countries. Outside it, the free mornings are what put a child into a swimming squad, a football team or an arts programme, which is where local friendships form.
Support covers dyslexia, ADHD, autism and speech, language and sensory processing needs, delivered by SEND trained educators to an individualised plan agreed with the family, and priced separately from the annual fee. Existing assessments are reviewed before admission so a family does not repeat reports already done here.
Support comes from counsellors and SEND trained educators rather than clinical psychologists, and the school does not list psychologists among its staff. The class teacher and academic coordinator are the first people to raise a concern with, and a family needing clinical support should arrange it locally in Singapore alongside school.
Progress sits on a parent app and portal rather than waiting for a meeting. Subject progress, assignments and assessment results update as they are recorded, and teachers raise concerns directly instead of holding them for a report. Ask the counsellor what the meeting schedule is for your child's grade.
Sunbeam World School follows its own published academic calendar, which does not match the Singapore school holiday list, so a local holiday may still be a teaching day. Families who want specific days free take them as planned absences, tell the teacher in advance and use the recordings to catch up.
The call starts with your child's grade, current school and nationality, since that decides which rules apply, then covers the pathway options, class times in Singapore hours and the published fee for that grade. A demo class can be booked in the same call, and nothing is charged until you decide to enrol.
