The Basics

What Is Year 11 in the Australian Curriculum?

Year 11 is the first of the two senior secondary years in the Australian system, for students aged around 16. It is the point where general schooling ends and specialisation begins: students choose a set of senior secondary courses, and those choices determine what they can apply for after Year 12. At Sunbeam World School, Year 11 runs entirely online with subject specialist teachers, live daily classes in groups of twenty, and Australian government-attested marksheets on completion. Students continue directly into Year 12 with the same teachers and platform.

How It Works

Live Senior Teaching, Backed by a Full Digital Library

Subject Specialist Teachers

Every Year 11 course is taught by a specialist in that subject. At senior level the depth of the teacher matters more than at any earlier stage, and generalists cannot deliver it.

Recorded Lessons on the LMS

Every class is recorded and posted the same day with notes and worksheets. Senior students revise on their own schedule, which is how senior study actually works.

Doubt Solving Built In

An assistant subject teacher works alongside the class teacher at a 2:20 ratio, so a gap in understanding gets closed in the lesson rather than compounding across a term.

Progress Visible to Parents

Attendance, assignments, assessment results and teacher notes in one dashboard, so a problem in a senior subject is visible early enough to act on.

What Comes Next

From Year 11 to University

Year 11 sets up Year 12. The courses chosen now are the courses assessed then, and they are what universities look at when students apply.

Students continue into Year 12 on the same platform with the same subject teachers, so no time is lost re-establishing a routine in the year that counts most. Australian government-attested marksheets are accepted for university admission in Australia and internationally, and Indian families can pursue AIU equivalence where an Indian university requires it.

Students who change direction are not stranded. Academic transcripts transfer to our American and Cambridge pathways or to a school elsewhere, and are accepted for admission.

What Parents Say

Reviews from parents of senior secondary students. Read all 2,400+ Google reviews

"The subject conversation was the reason we chose this. His teachers walked us through the options honestly, based on his actual results rather than what we wanted to hear."

Mrs. Menon Mother of a Year 11 student, Dubai

"She is doing four senior subjects with specialist teachers for each one. In her old school one teacher covered three of them. The difference in depth is obvious."

Mr. Ahmed Father of a Year 11 student, Doha

"We wanted an Australian pathway without moving the family to Australia. She studies from home, the marksheets are government attested, and the universities she is applying to accept them."

Mrs. Lobo Mother of a Year 11 student, Bengaluru

"The recordings matter more in senior years than anywhere else. He rewatches the harder lessons before assessments and it has made a real difference to his results."
